Marco Luciano didn’t have a multi-hit game through his first 10 days at the Low-A level. It’s safe to say he’s heating up.
Baseball’s No. 13 overall prospect doubled, homered and reached base four times in a 3-for-3 night, his best offensive performance of the season, as Low-A San Jose took care of Lake Elsinore, 8-2.
Luciano was just a .147/.194/.265 hitter entering play on May 15. Since then, he’s put together four multi-hit performances in seven games. Luciano got his Thursday evening started with an RBI single to center in the first inning. In the third, the 19-year-old belted his fourth homer of the season, a solo shot to the opposite field in right-center.
After walking in the sixth inning, Luciano wrapped up his night with a double to left for his first three-hit game since July 2, 2019, with the Rookie-level AZL Giants Orange.
Over his last seven games, Luciano has bumped his batting average to .260 and has racked up seven of his nine extra-base hits for the year. Three of the young shortstop’s four homers have come in his last four contests.
Luciano signed with the Giants in 2018 and split the 2019 season between the AZL and then-Class A Short Season Salem-Keizer, batting a combined .302/.417/.564 with 10 homers and 42 RBIs in 47 games played.
