The Giants, after signing outfielder Grégor Blanco to a Minor League deal on Monday, have agreed to a deal of similar nature with infielder Andrés Blanco, a source confirmed to MLB.com's Chris Haft on Wednesday. The club has not commented.
Blanco, who spent the past four seasons with the Phillies, will earn $1.1 million and can make an additional $400,000 in incentives, per MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.
A native of Venezuela, Blanco is a lifetime .256/.310/.378 hitter across 10 big league seasons with the Phillies, Royals, Rangers and Cubs. The 33-year-old batted .192/.257/.292 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 80 games last year with Philadelphia.
Blanco is versatile defender with experience at every infield position. He has also played some outfield during his tenure in the Majors, but he's spent most of his time at second base and shortstop.
