Posey, who returned the Giants’ starting lineup on Sunday after missing two games with back tightness, led all National League catchers with 1,845,042 votes, finishing significantly ahead of the Cardinals’ Yadier Molina (934,413) and the Cubs’ Willson Contreras (693,063). Crawford and Yastrzemski, meanwhile, came from behind in the final week of voting to secure their spots in the next round.

Here are finalists to start '21 All-Star Game

Yastrzemski, who ranked 16th among NL outfielders on Monday, passed seven players to clinch the ninth outfield spot (474,521 votes), while Crawford (646,535) surpassed the Dodgers’ Corey Seager (624,839) on the final day of balloting to finish less than 22,000 votes ahead for the third and final spot among NL shortstops.

The Giants haven’t had multiple All-Stars since 2016, when Posey, Brandon Belt, Johnny Cueto and Madison Bumgarner were selected. San Francisco, which became the first team to reach 50 wins on Saturday, also has a few more All-Star candidates on its pitching staff, including right-handers Kevin Gausman, Anthony DeSclafani and Tyler Rogers. Pitchers and reserves will be determined through a combination of “Player Ballot” choices and selections made by the Commissioner’s Office.
