Stanton finishes third in Final Vote

BALTIMORE -- Giancarlo Stanton came up short in his bid to attend the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, finishing third behind Jean Segura of the Mariners and Andrew Benintendi of the Red Sox, as the results of the Camping World Final Vote were announced on Wednesday evening.
"It's all right. I've been an All-Star before," Stanton said after the Yankees' 9-0 win over the Orioles. "I think I'll survive."
Stanton has said that he was pleased just to be included in the voting, considering his slow start in pinstripes. Segura earned his second All-Star selection, tallying 13.6 million votes. Eddie Rosario of the Twins and Andrelton Simmons of the Angels finished behind Stanton in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The Yankees will have four representatives at the July 17 Midsummer Classic. Aaron Judge was elected into the starting outfield, while Luis Severino has drawn consideration to start for the American League.
Aroldis Chapman and Gleyber Torres were also selected, though the injured Torres has been replaced on the roster by the Athletics' Jed Lowrie. Manager Aaron Boone said on Wednesday that he is not sure if Chapman will be available to pitch in the All-Star Game due to lingering tendinitis in his left knee.
Stanton went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's rout for his Major League-leading fifth four-hit game of the season. He has turned in multihit efforts in nine of his last 17 games, with five doubles, four homers, 12 runs and 12 RBIs over that span.

"Keep pushing, keep having good games and help us win," he said. "I've just got to bring it into Cleveland [on Thursday]."
