Nationals fans may yet hear "Baby Shark" again at Nationals Park.
Washington and veteran outfielder Gerardo Parra have agreed to a Minor League deal with an invitation to Spring Training, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, who reported that Parra will earn $1 million if he makes the Major League roster. The club has not confirmed the move.
Parra, 33, became a fan favorite for his walk-up music, the popular children's song "Baby Shark" that had fans in Washington doing the chomp across the ballpark whenever he came to the plate. In 2019, Parra and the Nationals went from a 19-30 record to the first World Series championship in franchise history. He hit .250/.300/.447 with eight home runs in 204 plate appearances. He played for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan in 2020, hitting .272/.309/.379 with four homers in 178 plate appearances.

Parra has played for the D-backs, Brewers, Orioles, Rockies and Giants in addition to the Nationals over 11 Major League seasons, and he has a career slash line of .276/.323/.404 (91 OPS+). He will likely compete for a backup outfield spot behind Juan Soto, Victor Robles and Kyle Schwarber.
