ATLANTA -- The second game of Wednesday’s split doubleheader between the Reds and Braves was postponed due to inclement weather. It was rescheduled for Sept. 9 at Truist Park at a time yet to be announced.

Heavy rain on Tuesday resulted in the postponement of Game 2 of the series, which was supposed to be made up as part of a Wednesday doubleheader. But after the Reds' 9-4 win in Game 1, it was announced approximately an hour before first pitch for Game 2 that the game had again been rained out.

The Braves were scheduled to start Chris Sale in Game 2, but he will instead start Thursday’s game in New York against the Mets.

The Reds were scheduled to start reliever Nick Martinez in Wednesday's nightcap, but they will skip him and instead start Nick Lodolo in his usual spot in Friday's series opener vs. the Rays.

The makeup date will add another stop to what was already slated to be a long three-city trip for the Reds through New York, St. Louis and Minnesota. They will have to make a quick swing to Atlanta on what was previously an off-day between playing the Mets and Cardinals.
