Clase, Williams tabbed top August relievers
The Indians' Emmanuel Clase and the Brewers' Devin Williams were named MLB's Relievers of the Month for August on Thursday.
Clase took home the American League Reliever of the Month Award after not allowing a run in all of August. Williams didn't allow any earned runs himself on his way to National League Reliever of the Month honors.
Clase was 6-for-6 in save opportunities for Cleveland, and he allowed only five total baserunners while racking up 15 strikeouts in his 13 appearances, which were all scoreless. The 23-year-old right-hander held opponents to an .095 batting average and a .116 on-base percentage.

Williams struck out 22 in his 14 appearances for first-place Milwaukee, allowing only a single unearned run in the process. The 26-year-old right-hander collected his first three career saves, and he also notched six holds and picked up a win.
This is the first career Reliever of the Month Award for Clase. It's the second award for Williams, who was also the NL Reliever of the Month last September during his Rookie of the Year-winning 2020 season.
