LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers traded reliever Sergio Romo and cash considerations to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday for a player to be named or cash considerations.
The 34-year-old Romo, whose salary this year is $3 million, was designated for assignment on Thursday to make room for the activation of left-handed reliever Grant Dayton.
The former closer of the three-time champion Giants was signed as a free agent to vie for the Dodgers' setup role, but he struggled to a 6.12 ERA in 30 appearances.
