Jeter tosses gift from Big Papi -- with good reason!
When David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez joined forces to work as MLB analysts for FOX Sports two years ago, that was already viewed as an unlikely pairing between two longtime rivals and baseball legends.
Throw Derek Jeter into the mix? Now you just have a “who’s who” cast of elite figures from the epic Red Sox-Yankees rivalry of the early 2000s.
This was the case on Saturday during MLB’s London Series between the Cardinals and Cubs, as Jeter made his debut as a studio analyst with FOX alongside Ortiz and Rodriguez. And to celebrate Jeter’s arrival to the crew, “Big Papi” made the effort to give him a proper commemorative gift.

Make a mental note of the clip, as that was the first -- and almost certainly the last -- time you’ll see Jeter’s name on a Red Sox jersey. But “The Captain” took the prank in stride, joking that he would leave the FOX crew almost immediately upon his arrival.
Even this many years later, there’s no love lost in this historic rivalry.
