Span, Romo OK after injury scares

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants center fielder Denard Span exited in the seventh inning of San Francisco's 4-3 loss to the D-backs Tuesday night because of a stiff neck.
"He just wasn't feeling well, so he had to come out," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy.
Bochy was optimistic that Span would be available for Wednesday's series finale at AT&T Park, but he acknowledged concerns due to the fact that Span missed time in July with a neck issue.
"We'll see how he's doing tomorrow," said Bochy. "This neck thing has come up before. Got to be a little concerned, but our hope is he'll show up tomorrow and be fine."
Span was 0-for-3 with one run scored before being replaced by Gorkys Hernández. The nine-year veteran entered the game hitting .423 in his last 24 games. 
Span wasn't the only Giants player to deal with an injury scare on Tuesday. Reliever Sergio Romo was dinged up in the top of the ninth when covering first base, appearing to jam his right knee as he awkwardly lunged for the bag to beat Jean Segura. Romo stayed in the game after gingerly getting back to his feet.
"I think he tweaked it there covering first," Bochy said. "We think he's going to be fine tomorrow."
In addition, Ángel Pagán eased into second base rather than going for a triple on a one-out drive to Triples Alley the seventh due to hamstring tightness. He missed 18 games earlier this season because of a strained left hamstring.
"His hamstring is a little tight; it's been there for a little bit. He was being a little cautious with it," Bochy said of Pagan, who has reached base safely in 23 of his last 24 games. "The last thing we need to lose is him with how well he's playing. He's not 100 percent with that hamstring."
