NEW YORK -- After seeking a second opinion from Dr. Martin O'Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Yankees right-handed reliever Dellin Betances is not expected to need surgery to repair the partial tear in his left Achilles tendon.

"He'll be in a walking boot for another four weeks and then they'll reevaluate where he is, but the belief is he will not need surgery," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "I guess that could possibly change, but they feel pretty confident that this is something that will not need surgery."

Despite the good news, the injury remains season-ending for Betances.
