Price's elbow feeling good heading into camp

BOSTON -- Eight days before the official start of Spring Training, David Price has some good news for Red Sox fans.
His left elbow, which limited him to 11 starts last season, is feeling strong.
Price was among several Red Sox players who has been working out at the team's Spring Training facility in Fort Myers, Fla., this week.
"It feels good," Price told The Boston Globe and WBZ Radio. "It's felt really good all the way up to this point [this offseason], so I haven't had any issues with it."
Price said he hasn't thrown off the mound since the season ended, but he has been encouraged by the way his elbow has felt while playing catch.
Helping Price's confidence heading into the offseason was the way he performed out of the bullpen late in the regular season and into the American League Division Series against the Astros, when he was unscored on over eight appearances covering 15 1/3 innings.
"Just to go out there and to not have pain and not have discomfort and be able to throw the volume and in a role that I wasn't really familiar with, that let me know that my elbow was probably a lot better than I thought it was at the time," Price said.
Entering the third season of a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox, Price can opt out of his contract following the '18 season.
"I don't [think about that]," Price said. "I came here to win, preferably multiple times. We've won two American League East titles and we haven't advanced out of the Division Series. Take it two steps further and start to build something even more special here. I want to win here."
Though Price felt some backlash from fans last season after he had a well-chronicled argument with Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley on a team flight, he knows the best way to fix that.
"If I go out there and pitch well, that will win fans back," Price said.
Is Price comfortable pitching in Boston?
"I'm comfortable, yeah, absolutely," he said.
