Dan Haren has a request for Ohtani, and he put it in polite letter form
You can add former MLB pitcher Dan Haren to the list of fans who admire Shohei Ohtani.
Haren, a three-time All-Star and Angel from 2010-12 and current pitching strategist with the D-backs, bought Ohtani and Mike Trout jerseys in the hopes of getting them signed by the two Angels superstars.
“Mr. Ohtani, my name is Dan Haren,” he wrote in a letter, tagging former Angels teammate Jered Weaver in a social media post. “Can you please sign this jersey for my personal collection?”
In an attempt to appeal to the two-way superstar, Haren alluded to playing with Trout from 2011-12, and he also touted a very specific feat that he shares in common with Ohtani.
Before Ohtani tallied four hits as a starting pitcher on May 15 earlier this year, Haren was the last pitcher to do it, when he had four hits as a member of the D-backs in 2010.

Perhaps this letter going public is all Haren needs to make his wish come true, and he’ll be the lucky recipient of signed Ohtani and Trout jerseys in the near future.
