D-backs reassign four to Minor League camp

PHOENIX -- The D-backs made five roster moves Friday, reassigning outfielder Oswaldo Arcía, right-hander Erik Davis, left-hander Brian Matusz and catcher Josh Thole to Minor League camp. In addition, right-hander Tyler Jones, a Rule 5 pick, was returned to the Yankees.
With the moves, the D-backs continue to thin the ranks of their relievers as they try to settle on a bullpen, though they still have a ways to go.
Davis was hoping to win a bullpen job with Arizona. The 30-year-old California native last pitched in the Majors for Washington in 2013, posting a 3.12 ERA over 10 appearances in his only big league callup.

Matusz spent seven seasons as a starter and then a reliever with the Orioles before he was traded to the Cubs last June. The southpaw had given up four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings with Arizona this spring.
Thole, 30, was diagnosed with a significant hamstring tear last week that could sideline him for the entirety of the 2017 season. The backstop is a career .242 hitter with the Mets and Blue Jays over his eight-year big league career.
Arcia had four home runs in Cactus League play, but he hit for a .200 average and had a .260 on-base percentage.
Pollock back
Outfielder A.J. Pollock played in a Cactus League game for the first time since March 12 when he tweaked his left groin against the Giants.
Pollock, who walked and was pinch-run for in the fourth, made several plays in the outfield while going 0-for-2 at the plate during the D-backs' 13-6 win. More important, he came through everything healthy.
"Legs felt great," Pollock said. "It's good to get back out there."
Injuries
Left fielder Yasmany Tomás had a work day on Friday and continues to progress from his strained right oblique.
Meanwhile, outfielder Grégor Blanco was being "evaluated" Friday, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. Blanco was scratched from the lineup Thursday with tightness in his right side.
"I don't think it's serious," Blanco said. "I just don't want to pull it."
Blanco is competing for a backup outfield spot so any missed time could hurt his chances.
