AZ-SD finale moved from Sun. to Sat. due to Hurricane Hilary

SAN DIEGO -- The Padres and D-backs will play a day-night doubleheader at Petco Park on Saturday to avoid a deluge expected to hit the Southern California region on Sunday. MLB on Friday moved the finales of three West Coast series from Sunday to Saturday; for ticket holders, all of Sunday’s rescheduled games will now become the early afternoon games of Saturday’s split doubleheaders.

Saturday's games in San Diego will be played at 12:10 p.m. PT/MST and 5:40 p.m. PT/MST; the timing of Saturday’s originally scheduled game remains intact.

Hurricane Hilary, which is currently south of San Diego, is projected to spawn a tropical storm that's likely to make field conditions on Sunday unplayable.

With this four-game series serving as the last regular-season meeting of the year for the Padres and D-backs, and neither club off Monday, the decision was made to get in an extra game on Saturday.
