PHOENIX -- For the second straight night, it didn't take the D-backs' offense long to get rolling.
In their 9-8 win Friday night, Nick Ahmed's three-run homer capped a five-run first inning against Rockies starter Tyler Anderson and raised the D-backs first-inning run tally to eight in the season's first two games.
After Robbie Ray got out of the top of the first unscathed, Anderson struggled with his command, walking David Peralta and Paul Goldschmidt. The pair came in to score when A.J. Pollock grounded a double down the left-field line.
Anderson then walked Chris Owings and Ahmed hit a changeup down the left-field line for his first homer of the season and a 5-0 Arizona lead.
