Cubs sign veteran lefty Garcia to Minors deal

PHILADELPHIA -- MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports the Cubs have signed lefty Jaime García to a Minor League deal. The Cubs have not confirmed the deal.
Garcia was designated for assignment on Saturday and was released by the Blue Jays on Wednesday. In 25 games (13 starts) with Toronto, he was 3-6 with a 5.93 ERA.

Garcia, 32, has pitched for the Cardinals, Braves, Twins, Yankees and Blue Jays, compiling a 70-61 record and a 3.84 ERA over 10 seasons. This year, he held left-handed hitters to a .188 average.
The Cubs have been stockpiling relievers, adding Jesse Chavez and Brandon Kintzler before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline and Jorge De La Rosa in August.
