Cubs' 2020 Spring Training schedule released

CHICAGO -- The Cubs do not want to wait 'til next year. There is still a postseason chase at hand with the end goal of bringing home the franchise's second World Series crown in four years.

In the meantime, though, fans can start planning for 2020.

On Monday, all 30 Major League Baseball teams released their Spring Training schedules for the 2020 campaign, initiating the countdown to next season as teams still jockey for position for the October stage this fall. Fans of the North Siders can circle Feb. 22 on their calendars. That is when the Cubs will host the A's in their Cactus League opener at Sloan Park.

Spring Training schedule

Next spring, when the Cubs are also planning on launching Marquee Sports Network, they will host 17 games at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz., and hit the road in Arizona for 15 contests. The Cubs and White Sox will square off twice: on March 6 in Mesa, and then again on March 13 at the South Siders' spring home in Glendale.

The Cubs will face the rival Brewers on Feb. 29 in Mesa and then on March 22 in Phoenix. Chicago will face the Indians -- its 2016 World Series foe -- on March 7 on the road and again on March 14 at home. The Cubs will conclude their spring slate on March 23 against the Padres at Sloan Park.

Reporting dates for pitchers, catchers and position players, as well as game times and broadcast information, will be released at later dates.

Following Spring Training, the Cubs will head to Milwaukee for Opening Day against the Brewers on March 26 at Miller Park. Chicago will head to Wrigley Field for its 2020 home opener on March 30, when the Pirates will come to town. The highlight of the 2020 regular season schedule for the Cubs will be a trip overseas to face the Cardinals in the London Series on June 13-14.

Individual game tickets for the Cubs' 2020 spring home games will go on sale at 11 a.m. CT on Jan. 11 at Cubs.com. You can also find more information on spring tickets at sloanpark.com.
