Seager sits with leg issues, is day to day
Hot-hitting Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was out of Sunday’s lineup while nursing a pair of injuries the Dodgers consider minor.
Seager was hit on the right calf by a foul ball in a sixth-inning at-bat on Friday night and played Saturday night, but was removed after six innings with a left quad cramp. The club suspects dehydration was a factor in the cramp.
“There’s a little bit of a quad, I think left quad, just a little dehydration he felt last night,” manager Dave Roberts said. “Took him out of the game, precautionary, and today just wanted to give it that extra day and see where we’re at. He’s going to be down today, I don’t see him available today, so day to day.”
Seager, fully healthy after elbow and hip operations in 2018, is off to one of the hottest starts in baseball, batting .361 with three homers, three doubles and a 1.119 OPS after nine games. Following the Dodgers' 3-0 win on Sunday, Roberts said that Seager had received treatment and could serve as DH in Monday's series opener in San Diego.

While Seager was out of Sunday’s lineup, slumping Cody Bellinger returned after sitting out Saturday. Bellinger is batting .139 with no home runs.
“He’s started to take some aggressive swings,” said Roberts. “As long as he stays in the strike zone, he’s fine. Yesterday, a day to kind of collect himself. He’s excited to be back in there and he will be in there until the off-day [Thursday].”
