LSU stays atop HOF Power Poll amid significant change below
LUBBOCK, Texas – More Top 10 upsets brought about significant change in the Week 7 College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll.
Of course, just as it has all season, LSU (23-4) remains at the top after winning its Top 10 SEC showdown with Tennessee, again garnering all first-place votes in the poll. LSU took care of business the first two nights over the Volunteers with wins of 5-2 and 6-4 before dropping the series finale. The loss also dropped the Vols (21-8) a couple of spots to outside the Top 10 at No. 11.
Florida (24-5) also remained static at No. 2 with its SEC series win over Auburn, dropping the first game before coming back to take the next two. Wake Forest (26-3) continues to ascend the ladder of the poll, jumping a spot to No. 3 after sweeping its ACC series from Clemson, while Vanderbilt (23-5) leaps three spots to No. 4 after sweeping its SEC series against Georgia. Arkansas rounds out the Top 5 at 22-5 after winning its SEC series against Alabama.
Rounding out the Top 10 are No. 6 Stanford (18-7), which split a four-game series at Oklahoma; No. 7 Louisville (21-6), which falls one spot after losing an series to No. 17 North Carolina State; No. 8 South Carolina (26-3), which captured its series against Mississippi State, No. 9 Oklahoma State (23-7), which outlasted No. 21 Texas in three games to win that Big 12 series, and No. 10 Kentucky (25-3), which swept Missouri in a SEC matchup to jump six spots, the biggest jump of any team in the poll this week.
No. 13 Virginia (24-6) had the biggest fall this week, dropping eight spots after losing two of three games in ACC play to rival Virginia Tech.
Two new teams make their debut in the poll this week. Boston College (20-6), one of the biggest surprises in the ACC this year, comes in at No. 24 after taking two of three in league play against Georgia Tech, while the Campbell Camels (22-4) tie for No. 25 after dispatching of Charleston Southern in three Big South games this week.
Defending champion Ole Miss (15-11) drops out of this week’s poll.
