Volunteers strengthen grasp on top spot in Hall of Fame Power Poll
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Tennessee Volunteers continue to pace the field in the 2022 college baseball season and show no signs of weakness after a three-game sweep of Missouri, which helps the Vols strengthen their hold on the No. 1 spot in the National College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll for the third straight week.
Tennessee secured all six first-place votes in this week’s poll to remain the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. With series losses by Virginia and Arkansas and a Big 12 series sweep of Kansas State, Texas Tech vaults into the No. 2 position while perhaps the hottest team in the country outside of Tennessee, the Miami Hurricanes, surge 11 spots into the top 5, coming in at No. 3 after a weekend ACC sweep of previous No. 2 Virginia.
Another red-hot team at the moment is the Oregon State. Seeking their first national championship since 2018, the Beavers leaped eight spots to No. 4 in this week’s poll. Arkansas, which fell twice in an SEC series at Florida, rounds out the top 5.
Two schools make their debut in this week’s poll. Wake Forest makes its first entry into the poll at No. 24 coming off a weekend sweep of Duke in ACC play, while Southern Mississippi checks in at No. 25 after a weekend Conference USA sweep of Charlotte.
North Carolina and Texas State exit this week’s poll.
