College Baseball Foundation announces collaborative partnership with The Baseball Cube

The College Baseball Foundation (CBF), dedicated to the preservation of college baseball history, announced today a collaboration with The Baseball Cube (TBC) to advance the gathering of the quantifiable aspects of college baseball history.

The partnership connects the archival capabilities of the College Baseball Foundation with the technical acumen of The Baseball Cube and recognizes TBC as the official statistics provider of the CBF and National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

"I am very excited to be partnering with the College Baseball Foundation on this project,” said The Baseball Cube developer and owner Gary Cohen. “With CBF's passion and connection to the college baseball world and TBC's focus on statistics research and technology, it is a natural partnership."

The Baseball Cube, a website established in 2003, contains historical data of baseball from Major League Baseball, minor leagues and all levels of college baseball. A website post earlier this year stated the desire to rebuild college baseball stats from 1965 to 2001 by using college baseball media guides.

“I am super excited about the College Baseball Data Project,” said Mike Rooney, ESPN College Baseball Analyst and d1baseball.com contributor. “Our sport has an incredibly rich history, and statistics are ingrained in the fabric of baseball. I am often curious as to how a big-league player performed in college, but those stats are really difficult to find. Problem solved.”

The CBF archive contains a collection of more than 1,500 college baseball media guides and team statistics reports.

“It is my pleasure to announce this collaboration,” said Mike Gustafson, president and CEO of the College Baseball Foundation and National College Baseball Hall of Fame. “We have long aspired to work on a historical data-gathering project, so it is great to align with The Baseball Cube.”
