Longtime Angel Figgins on '20 HOF ballot

ANAHEIM -- The 2020 Hall of Fame ballot was released on Monday and it includes several players who played with the Angels, including Chone Figgins, Bobby Abreu and Raul Ibanez, as well as current special assistant Eric Chavez.
Figgins played most of his 12-year career with the Angels, playing eight years with the club before finishing his career with three years with the Mariners and one with the Dodgers. Figgins hit .291/.363/.388 with 280 stolen bases and 596 runs scored in 936 games with the Angels, and batted .276/.349/.363 with 341 stolen bases and 708 runs in 1,282 games in his career.

Figgins received American League Most Valuable Player Award votes in four seasons with the Angels, coming in 2004, ‘05, ‘07 and ‘09, when he finished 10th and was an All-Star for the only time in his career. Figgins led the AL in stolen bases with 62 in 2005 and stole at least 30 bases in each season from 2004-2010. He also led the AL with 101 walks in ‘09, hitting .298/.395/.393 that season.
He was part of the Angels’ World Series-winning team as a rookie in 2002, and he played in 10 different playoff series with the Angels, hitting .172. He was also a versatile player, seeing action at every position except first base and catcher.

Abreu played parts of four seasons with the Angels toward the end of his career, batting .267/.364/.412 with 43 homers, 75 stolen bases and 246 RBIs in 456 games. He played 18 years in the Majors, hitting .291/.395/.475 with 288 homers and 400 stolen bases, showing off a rare combination of power and speed.
Abreu received MVP votes in seven different seasons, including a 12th-place finish with the Angels in '09. He was an All-Star with the Phillies in 2004 and '05, winning a Silver Slugger in '04 and a Gold Glove in '05.
Ibañez's time with the Angels was brief, playing in 57 games with the club in his final season in 2014 and hitting .157. But Ibañez had a solid career, batting .272/.335/.465 with 305 homers and 1,207 RBIs in 2,161 games with the Royals, Mariners, Phillies, Yankees and Angels.
Chavez never played for the Angels but joined the organization as special assistant to general manager Billy Eppler in 2015. Chavez played 17 years in the Majors with the A's, D-backs and Yankees, hitting .268/.342/.475 with 260 homers and 902 RBIs in 1,615 games. He won six straight Gold Gloves at third base with the A's from 2001-06, and also won a Silver Slugger Award in '02.
The 2020 Hall of Fame class will be announced on Jan. 21 on MLB Network.
