Wednesday vs. Tigers PPD; DH on Thursday
CHICAGO -- Game 2 of the three-game series between the White Sox and Tigers, scheduled for Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Chicago weather forecast called for rain for most of the night, with a potential window only opening up in the 11 p.m. CT hour.
A straight doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday starting at 4:10 p.m. The second game will begin approximately 30 to 45 minutes following the conclusion of the opener, but not before 7:10 p.m. Both games will be seven-inning regulation games. Parking lots and gates will open at 3:10 p.m. tomorrow.
Carlos Rodón, who is 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA in three starts and has held the opposition to five hits in 62 at-bats this season, will start Game 1 against Casey Mize, with Dylan Cease and Matthew Boyd squaring off in the nightcap.
Season-ticket holders will receive a credit to their account for game tickets and parking for Wednesday’s game. Ticketmaster purchasers will receive a full refund for game tickets and parking through Ticketmaster. Fans with tickets to Thursday's originally scheduled contest can attend both games of the doubleheader.
NBC Sports Chicago will air Game 1 and NBC Sports Chicago Plus (+) will broadcast Game 2. ESPN Radio AM-1000 and WRTO-AM 1200/Univisión Radio will broadcast both games of the straight doubleheader. Detroit won the first game of the series, 5-2, with the White Sox finishing 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
The White Sox entered Wednesday ranked in the American League with a .244 average with RISP. They have slashed .352/.426/.639 (38-for-108) with RISP in their 12 victories, and they have slashed .118/.202/.194 (11-for-93) in their 10 losses.
Thursday’s doubleheader marks the second for the White Sox, who swept Boston on April 18. The White Sox also have a doubleheader scheduled against Kansas City on May 14 and at Cleveland on May 31.
