Former Cards, Cubs pitcher Broglio dies at 83
ST. LOUIS -- Former Cardinals pitcher Ernie Broglio, who was the other half of the trade that brought Hall of Famer Lou Brock to St. Louis, died Tuesday night after battling cancer, according to social media posts from his family. Broglio was 83.
Broglio was 77-74 with a 3.74 ERA in eight years in the Major Leagues. With the Cardinals from 1959-1964, he tied for the National League lead in victories in 1960 when he won 21 games. He also won 18 in 1963.

He went to Chicago in June 1964 as Brock came to the Cardinals. Broglio went 4-7 for the Cubs that year, while Brock went on to hit .348 in St. Louis and was part of the National League pennant and World Series title. Broglio finished his Major League career in 1966, going 7-19 for the Cubs.
