Buxton and Gray's kids open cards -- and get their dads

Many baseball card collectors got their start as children, ripping open packs with mom or dad at their side. But things hit just a little bit different when your dad happens to be a big league ballplayer.

On the newest episode of MLB's Carded -- available now for MLB.TV subscribers and airing this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on MLB Network -- Byron Buxton's son Brixton, and Sonny Gray's children Gunnar and Declan revealed that they've become pretty massive card collectors these days.

"Baseball card [collecting] is something that we like to do," Buxton said about opening cards with his son. "It's kind of our guy thing when we're chilling. Then we argue over which card we want to keep."

But the boys have an extra perk: Since their parents are in big league clubhouses, every card stands a pretty good chance of getting an autograph.

"I knew that guys on opposing teams and guys in our clubhouse are so good about signing for other players and being there and mingling with the kids, so it was like, 'Let's see if we can start getting some baseball cards,' Gray said. "Then they can meet the other players, get to know them personally, and get them to sign their cards and whatnot."

Even better: The kids each just happened to pull one of their dad's cards while on camera.

The rest of the episode also features Mariners superstar Julio Rodríguez walking the viewer through designing his very own card set:
