ST. LOUIS -- Cardinals reliever Bud Norris exited in the top of the seventh inning of Sunday night's 5-0 victory over the Dodgers with a blister on his right middle finger.
Manager Mike Shildt said Norris had discomfort with the blisters before the game.
"He said he was capable of throwing," Shildt said. "We knew that he was able to go. A couple pitches got away from him."
Norris still felt he could stay in the game, Shildt said, but the Cardinals decided it wasn't worth any further risk so they replaced him with right-handed flamethrower Jordan Hicks.
Norris walked Yasmani Grandal and had a 1-0 count on Cody Bellinger before he was pulled.
