The Reds brought back one of their most durable relievers from 2023 on Thursday when Buck Farmer signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
In 71 appearances last season, Farmer was 4-5 with a 4.20 ERA and three saves. He became a free agent after the season.
Farmer, 32, was tied for fifth in the National League in appearances. He was one of three Cincinnati relievers with at least 70 games pitched, alongside team leader Ian Gibaut (74) and closer Alexis Díaz (71).
The club leader in multi-inning appearances, Farmer worked more than one inning 20 times last season and threw two innings three times.
Farmer is the second free-agent signing for the Cincinnati bullpen this offseason. Emilio Pagán signed a two-year, $16 million contract on Dec. 1.
Outfielder Bubba Thompson was designated for assignment on Thursday.
