Bryce arrives in custom Phanatic suit
Forget Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña Jr. It's not Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. No, the best friendship in baseball is between Bryce Harper and a giant furry green alien known only as the Phillie Phanatic (probably because the human tongue can't speak his real name.)
Last season, Harper made his Phillies debut wearing bright green Phanatic cleats.
Later that summer, he rocked a Phanatic headband -- looking like the most Philly wrestler in history.
But neither of these looks are appropriate for getting married in (unless you have a very understand significant other).
So, when Harper showed up to the stadium for the delayed start of the 2020 season on Friday, he knew he had to class it up. Enter: This thing. That's a green suit (not in Phanatic's shades, though) complete with Phanatic lining.
Yeah, that's the closest thing to a hug from the big guy as he can get while social distancing.
But if you thought that the suit was nice, Harper had an even better -- or perhaps we should say crazier -- trick up his sleeve. These fuzzy, sparkly, glam-as-heck Phanatic cleats are what the outfielder wore for the game:
