Hagadone's Minor League contract voided

MILWAUKEE -- The list of non-roster invitees to Brewers camp shrunk by one Monday, when the club announced it had voided left-hander Nick Hagadone's contract and returned him to the pool of free agents.
The team did not issue further comment, but a source indicated that significant concerns arose after Hagadone, a former Indians reliever who underwent surgery in July for a fractured left elbow, underwent a physical exam.
It is not uncommon for teams to sign players to Minor League contracts based on medical records provided by the player's representative and to schedule a physical for a later date. The standard Minor League contract includes language that allows the team to void the deal based on a pre-existing medical condition, a clause that came into play for Hagadone.
The 30-year-old originally became a free agent when the Indians non-tendered him in December. In 143 Major League appearances, Hagadone has a 4.72 ERA and has held left-handed batters to a .210 average.
