Milwaukee has a new top pitching prospect for the third time this year as right-hander Jacob Misiorowski joined MLB Pipeline’s updated Top 30 Brewers prospect list along with other 2022 Draft picks.
In a midseason update to reflect player performance along with organizational additions via the Draft and trades, Misiorowski jumped over both left-hander Ethan Small, who began the year as Milwaukee’s top-ranked pitching prospect with Aaron Ashby’s graduation from the list, and over left-hander Robert Gasser, who’d joined the Top 30 after coming to the Brewers from the Padres in the Josh Hader trade.
Misiorowski was one of five 2022 Draft picks who joined the Top 30 since signing with the Brewers.

Biggest jump/fall
Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the preseason list:
Jump: OF Luis Lara (Preseason: unranked | Midseason: 13) -- The 17-year-old from Venezuela signed for a seven-figure bonus in 2021 and jumped into the Top 30 after the Brewers traded Tristan Peters to the Giants for Trevor Rosenthal. He’s a switch-hitter small in stature -- 5-foot-9 -- but with the tools to push through the system in the same way Jackson Chourio has done.
Fall: Freddy Zamora (Preseason: 11 | Midseason: 22) -- Zamora, whose pro career started slow because he was recovering from an ACL injury, subluxed his left (non-throwing) shoulder earlier this season, and because there was some history there and because of the stress on that shoulder when he follows through on swings, the required surgery will sideline him until October. The other notable player who fell was outfielder Hedbert Perez, who dropped from No. 9 in the preseason to No. 18 in the update as he struggles through a season at Single-A Carolina.

Impact callup
Brewers: Esteury Ruiz, OF (No. 8)
Milwaukee has an embarrassment of riches in the Triple-A Nashville outfield with Ruiz, Sal Frelick (MIL No. 2), Joey Wiemer (No. 3) and Garrett Mitchell (No. 5) all suiting up for the Sounds. Only one has Major League experience though, and that’s the newest Brewer in Ruiz. The 23-year-old showed a much-improved approach in the San Diego system before his move in the Josh Hader deal, and his 80-grade speed would certainly be an asset for his new big league club immediately, even in a clutch pinch-running role.
