MILWAUKEE -- The racing sausages will keep sizzling at Miller Park in 2018 and beyond, the Brewers assured fans Tuesday in the wake of a report that the team had terminated its agreement with longtime sponsor Klement's.
"With the heat being turned up today as rumors simmer on the Brewers' sausage category sponsorship, there has been speculation about the future of Milwaukee's most legendary runners," the team said in a statement. "The Famous Racing Sausages are a 'link' to the Brewers' past and present. Rest assured, they are also central to the future of the franchise."
More details are forthcoming, according to the statement. The Brewers will have an opportunity to publicly reveal the new sponsor to a live audience as soon as Sunday during the team's "On Deck" fanfest in downtown Milwaukee.
In addition to a new logo on the running mascots, the change means a new provider of sausages and hot dogs at Brewers games for the first time in more than 25 years.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the end of the Brewers' partnership with Klement's after Klement Sausage Co. chief executive officer Tom Danneker announced it to employees in a letter. It said Klement's was surprised by the Brewers' decision to end the deal.
