Brewers option Knebel to clear spot for Blazek
LOS ANGELES -- The Brewers optioned reliever Corey Knebel to Triple-A Colorado Springs late Saturday to clear a spot for right-handed reliever Michael Blazek's return from the disabled list.
Blazek, who has been on the DL with a sore right elbow, will be activated prior to Sunday's series finale at Dodger Stadium. He rejoined the team on Saturday following a Minor League rehabilitation assignment.
Knebel worked around a hit and struck out a batter in a scoreless inning at the end of Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Dodgers, his fifth appearance off a nine-week stint on the DL for an oblique strain. Before that outing, Knebel had surrendered a run in three of his first four appearances with six walks in 3 1/3 innings.
