A's Brett Anderson to DL with strained left forearm

The A's rotation took its second costly hit in three days on Tuesday, when the club placed left-hander Brett Anderson on the 10-day disabled list with a left forearm strain.
Anderson allowed five runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings on Monday in the A's critical series opener against the Astros at Minute Maid Park. The trip to the DL comes at a particularly unfortunate time for Anderson, who, prior to Monday's outing, had registered an 0.68 ERA with 14 strikeouts and two walks in 26 2/3 innings over his previous four starts.
This will mark Anderson's second trip to the disabled list this season, as he was previously sidelined from May 19 to July 7 with a left shoulder strain. He's 3-4 with a 4.02 ERA in 13 starts this season after he was signed to a Minor League deal at the start of the year for his second career stint with Oakland.
The A's had previously placed left-hander Sean Manaea on the 10-day disabled list with a left shoulder impingement on Sunday. Daniel Mengden, who was recently recalled from Triple-A Nashville to pitch out of the bullpen after a recovery from a sprained right foot, could slide back into the rotation, and Frankie Montas could be in line to get more starts as well.
In a corresponding move, reliever Ryan Dull was recalled from Triple-A Nashville. He has a 5.89 ERA with 17 strikeouts and six walks in 21 appearances out of Oakland's bullpen this season.
