Braves-Cards game postponed Tuesday; split DH on Wednesday
ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals announced that Tuesday’s 6:45 p.m. CT game against the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The two teams will make up the postponed game on Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. CT at Busch Stadium as part of a split doubleheader before the originally scheduled 6:15 p.m. CT game. Gates for Game 1 will open at 11:15 a.m. Gates for Game 2 will open at 4:45 p.m.
The Cardinals, winners of four straight, will start Tuesday’s scheduled starter, Kyle Gibson (5-2), in Game 1, but the club has yet to decide upon a starter for Game 2, manager Oliver Marmol said.
The Braves, who won eight of 10 prior to losing Monday’s Game 1 of the series, will start Reynaldo López (5-2) in Game 1, while right-hander Bryce Elder (1-2) will be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett for Game 2, manager Brian Snitker said. The Braves made that decision even before the rainout, meaning star left-hander Chris Sale won’t start until Thursday against the White Sox in Chicago.
Both teams will be allowed to add a 27th player for the doubleheader.
Tickets for Tuesday’s game will be valid for Wednesday’s rescheduled 12:45 p.m. game. Additionally, fans who purchased tickets and were in attendance for tonight’s postponed game will be sent a ticket voucher electronically next week for a future 2024 Cardinals Monday-Thursday home game.
