Ex-big leaguer with bat flip of the year?
Seventeen-year MLB veteran Brandon Phillips may not be on a Major League roster in 2021, but that isn’t stopping him from making the highlight reels with an early candidate for bat flip of the year with the Atlantic League’s Lexington Legends.
Phillips reminded everyone why his nickname is “DatDude,” showing no remorse after sending one over the fence in left in Lexington’s exhibition game against the Florence Y’alls of the Frontier League over the weekend. The height and spin on the flip may have just added a little bit extra to his solo shot.
The former All-Star, who turns 40 in June and last appeared in the Majors in 2018, might have been known for his slick fielding during his time in the big leagues, but he showed that he can still get it done with the bat as well.
