Shortstop Brandon Crawford exited the Giants' 3-2 loss to the Padres at Petco Park with a bruised left calf after he was hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning Friday night.
“We’ll check him out [Saturday] morning and see how he’s doing,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said.
Crawford was struck by a 95.9 mph sinker thrown by Padres starter Yu Darvish. Crawford stayed in the game momentarily, after he was checked by a Giants athletic trainer. He was then tested on the bases when he advanced to third on a double by Steven Duggar.
Mauricio Dubón replaced Crawford on defense to start the bottom of the fifth.
Crawford has started 21 games at shortstop this season and is batting .205 with four home runs.
