For Rangers mates, hitting is in their jeans

The Sisterhood -- well, brotherhood in this case -- of the Traveling Pants is alive and well in 2022.

After losing a bet to Nathaniel Lowe, Rangers infielder Brad Miller was seen donning Lowe’s jeans for batting practice before Tuesday’s game against the Astros.

Just before the Rangers’ 8-1 win against the A’s in Oakland over the weekend, Lowe was wearing those same jeans in the clubhouse when Miller told him they would look good with cleats and a belt. They didn’t, Lowe said, but because of that he later approached Miller with a friendly bet.

“He said if he hit three home runs, then I’d have to wear [the jeans] during batting practice,” Miller said. “I’m like, ‘Nate, come on. If you hit one, I’ll wear them.’”

Sure enough, Lowe homered in his first at-bat of the game, a two-run, 387-foot jack to left-center.

“As soon as I hit it, I had a funny feeling about it,” Lowe said.

Lowe didn’t have the jeans washed, either. He just set them near Miller’s locker before the next game. What Lowe didn’t know was that he probably won’t be getting them back.

“Depending on how tonight goes, hopefully if I can get something going and hit a couple homers, maybe we’ll just kind of pass them around,” Miller said. “We’ll see. Maybe get them on [Nick] Solak, maybe Charlie [Culberson].”
