TORONTO -- The Blue Jays recalled left-hander Chad Girodo and optioned infielder Matt Dominguez to Triple-A Buffalo following Tuesday's 3-1, 10-inning victory over the Rangers.
The addition of Girodo temporarily gives Toronto an eight-man bullpen. It's not immediately clear how long that will be the case, but the Blue Jays needed to add a fresh arm after four relievers were used Tuesday night.
Girodo made his Major League debut earlier this season and tossed two scoreless innings in his lone appearance. He provides manager John Gibbons with a second left-hander in the bullpen, which could be key because veteran Brett Cecil is off to a rough start with a 5.59 ERA in 15 appearances.
Dominguez was serving as the backup at first and third base. He was added to the roster after Chris Colabello received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a banned substance, but he didn't have a hit in seven at-bats.
Girodo was 2-0 with one earned run over 8 2/3 innings for Buffalo this season.
