The Royals announced on Monday that they have signed Ben Kudrna, the team's second-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
The Royals didn't announce the terms of the agreement, but MLB.com's Jim Callis reported that Kudrna, a right-handed pitcher out of Blue Valley Southwest HS in Kansas, is set to receive a $3 million signing bonus, nearly double the value of the No. 43 overall pick ($1,729,800).

The deal comes after Callis reported the Royals signed No. 7 overall pick Frank Mozzicato for $3.55 million, almost $2 million below pick value. The under-slot deal for Mozzicato meant the Royals could distribute the money elsewhere among their picks.
Kudrna was MLB Pipeline’s No. 46 Draft prospect. Standing 6-foot-3, Kudrna works with a low-to-mid 90s fastball and two above-average secondary pitches in his changeup and slider along with a smooth delivery. Kudrna was a Louisiana State commit prior to signing.
The Royals have now agreed to terms with 15 of their 21 picks from the 2021 Draft, including Mozzicato, Kudrna, fourth-rounder Shane Panzini and eighth-rounder Ryan Cepero.
