Starting in 2018, HOF votes to be public
The Baseball Writers' Association of America on Tuesday voted to make all Hall of Fame ballots public, beginning with the 2018 election.
The vote passed by an 80-9 count. All ballots will be made public seven days after the vote totals are announced.

Current voting members -- those who have been BBWAA members for 10 consecutive years -- have been encouraged, but were not required, to publicly release their ballots. The BBWAA estimates about half its members have done so.
