The best baseball players born on Jan. 20

Who are the best players born on each day of the year? We have a list for every day on the calendar.

Here’s a subjective ranking of the top five for Jan. 20.

1) Brian Giles (1971)
Giles was one of the best sluggers in baseball from 1999-2002, hitting 30 or more home runs in four straight seasons. He ended his career with 287 homers and was close to joining the exclusive .300/.400/.500 club with a line of .291/.400/.502.

2) Camilo Pascual (1934)
Born in Havana, Pascual is all over the leaderboards for Cuban-born pitchers. He’s top five in strikeouts, wins, complete games, shutouts and innings pitched. Pascual was named an All-Star seven times in his career, as well.

3) Joe Dobson (1917)
Dobson spent nine years with the Red Sox, eight as a workhorse in the rotation, tallying 1,544 innings with Boston. Over that time, he went 106-72 with a 3.57 ERA, earned an All-Star nod in 1948 and helped lead the team to an American League pennant in '46.

4) David Eckstein (1975)
Eckstein was the ultimate spark plug during his 10-year career. He was part of two World Series winning teams, the 2002 Angels and '06 Cardinals, and took home World Series MVP honors after he hit .364 with four RBIs during the ‘06 Fall Classic.

5) Ozzie Guillen (1964)
Guillen was the 1985 AL Rookie of the Year and a three-time All-Star in his 16-year big league career. He not only played in the big leagues, though, as he also spent nine seasons as a manager for the White Sox and Marlins. In 2005, he led the Sox to their first World Series title in 88 years in just his second season at the helm.
