Bartolo wants back in bigs, and has a team in mind
Although he hasn't been an MLB pitcher since 2018 and the start of the 2020 season has been delayed, Bartolo Colon wants back in the game. The soon-to-be 47-year-old told ESPN's Marly Rivera on Monday, "If any Major League team wants an old man, I'm available!"
A pretty good sales pitch if you ask me.
Colon last pitched with the Rangers two seasons ago -- posting a 7-12 record and 5.78 ERA in 28 games (24 starts). He did show that he still had some magic left in the tank, nearly pitching a perfect game against the reigning World Series champion Houston Astros. He also had some typical Bartolo moments, like making gum sandwiches in the dugout and catching 101-mph line drives with his stomach.

Colon says he'd most like to return to the Mets, where he's had some of the more memorable moments of his career. He said he loved the fans and used to keep wearing bigger and bigger helmets so that they'd fall off and make everyone laugh. A true entertainer.
Colon was set to pitch in the Mexican League this season, but I think, right now, the world could use a Big Sexy big league comeback. If not as a pitcher, maybe, as he tells ESPN how he felt during his first comeback in 2011, in another role.
"All I wanted was to be in the Major Leagues, even as a bat boy."
