The A's put Mike Fiers' terrible beard on masks
With masks being one of the best ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus, face coverings are the hottest new fashion trend. Some opt for a simple and regal black mask, while others like colorful patterns and interesting designs.
When the A's arrived at summer camp on Wednesday, they chose the best look possible: Mike Fiers' atrocious beard.
Check it out:
Now, you might be wondering, "Just what on earth is on Fiers' face? Did he walk into a barber's office and say, 'Just wreck my face'?"
Well, kind of. The look came courtesy of a dare from Fiers' teammates, who didn't think he would take the mound with a beard he found while googling. (Yes, baseball players really are just like us.)
What they learned was that the pitcher with two no-hitters and "Fiers" tattooed on his arm has no time for vanity.
“They dared me to do it,” Fiers said after the game which the A's won 8-6. “They didn't think I'd go out there and pitch with it. I didn't care.”
Thanks to Fiers' courage, we have our first great prank of the 2020 season.
