July 21: Placed SS Jacob Wilson on 10-day IL (retroactive to July 20) with left hamstring strain; reinstated INF Abraham Toro from IL
An MRI revealed Wilson's strain, which occurred in the third inning of his big league debut. The 22-year-old Wilson, who singled in his first Major League at-bat, ranks as Oakland's No. 1 prospect and earned his callup on the strength of a .438 average across three Minor League levels this season.
Toro avoided any setbacks with his right hamstring strain during a rehab stint with Triple-A Las Vegas, playing back-to-back nine-inning games on July 20 and July 21.

RHP Ross Stripling (right elbow flexor strain)

Stripling came away from rehab outing with Triple-A Las Vegas on July 19 feeling healthy. He will return to Oakland for a bullpen session at the Coliseum on July 21 and the A's could potentially look to activate him at some point during the week of July 22. (Last updated: July 20)
RHP Luis Medina (right elbow sprain)

Medina was placed on the IL on July 13, two days after allowing six runs in five-plus innings against the Red Sox. His velocity was down early in the game -- sitting in the 93-95 mph range -- but he was able to rear back and touch 100 as the game progressed. Manager Mark Kotsay said on July 13 that he expects Medina to miss "significant" time, while adding the team will likely get a second opinion after the All-Star break. Medina, who began the year on the injured list with a right knee sprain, had compiled a 2-4 record and a 5.18 ERA over eight starts. (Last updated: July 13)
1B Tyler Soderstrom (stress reaction in left wrist)
Expected return: Late July or early August
Soderstrom was placed on the IL on July 11 (retroactive to July 10) with a left wrist injury. He underwent testing that revealed a stress reaction, but no fracture, which manager Mark Kotsay said was the best news the team could have hoped for. Soderstrom is expected to wear a splint for a week to 10 days, then begin strengthening exercises and ramping back up. (Last updated: July 12)
RHP Dany Jiménez (strained left oblique)
Expected return: September
Jiménez’s placement on the IL is retroactive to June 20, though he is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks after MRI results revealed a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique. He is currently shut down from all baseball activities. (Last updated: June 23)

Hernaiz was scheduled to play his first Minor League rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas on July 20. Given that he has been out of game action since May 8, A's manager Mark Kotsay indicated that the shortstop will need several rehab games before returning to the big league club. LHP Ken Waldichuk (left elbow sprain)

Waldichuk underwent a successful Tommy John surgery and internal brace procedure with Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on May 15. Sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 season, the A’s estimate a recovery timeline of 13 months, which puts Waldichuk in line for a potential return to Major League action next June.
