On Monday, Major League Baseball announced nominees for the inaugural 2019 All-MLB team. The A’s have four candidates on the ballot: Semien, Chapman, Olson and Liam Hendriks.
The selection process runs through 2 p.m. PT on Dec. 3, with 50 percent of the vote coming from fans and 50 percent coming from a panel of experts.
• All-MLB Team nominees, club-by-club
Fans can vote once every 24 hours between now and when voting ends next Tuesday. The results will be announced on Dec. 10 at baseball’s annual Winter Meetings in San Diego.

Hendriks took over the closer role from a struggling Blake Treinen in June and immediately brought stability to the ninth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander’s 3.8 Wins Above Replacement was the highest of any big league reliever, as he led the Majors with 25 saves in the time after he took over as closer on June 22. The A’s were 42-37 then, and went 56-28 the rest of the way. His 0.84 walks-per-nine-innings rate was lowest among AL relievers since taking over as closer, and he issued just four walks over 42 2/3 innings.

There will be a first team and second team All-MLB, and voters are asked only to consider performance during the regular season when casting their ballots. Each team will include one selection at each position (including designated hitter and three outfielders, regardless of specific outfield position), five starting pitchers and two relievers.
