Springer day to day after hamstring forces exit

ST. PETERSBURG - Astros outfielder George Springer left Saturday's game against the Rays with left hamstring discomfort.
Facing Rays starter Blake Snell in the fifth inning, Springer hit a ground ball to shortstop that the Rays turned into a double play. Right before reaching first base, he came up limping.
The Astros consider him day to day, and manager A.J. Hinch doesn't expect Springer to be in the lineup for Sunday's finale vs. the Rays.
"We'll see, but I doubt it," Hinch said. "These type of things usually require a day. We have a day off on Monday, so we'll be smart about it."
Springer currently holds the longest consecutive games played streak in the Majors at 204, dating back to Sept. 7, 2015.
Springer went 0-for-2 with a walk and was replaced in the lineup by Norichika Aoki.
"He didn't feel right, so he came out of the game," Hinch said.
Springer, who is tied for the American League lead with seven home runs, will be re-evaluated on Sunday.
"It happens," Springer said. "It's a long year. We'll see how I feel tomorrow and go from there."
