HOUSTON -- Astros manager A.J. Hinch and players Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, Chris Devenski, Jake Marisnick, Joe Musgrove and Brad Peacock and No. 2 prospect Forrest Whitley are among those who will represent the World Series champions at various stops during next week's Astros Caravan.
The team's annual community outreach tour begins Wednesday and consists of stops around the Houston area, as well as Austin, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, site of the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks. The Caravan culminates with the Jan. 13 FanFest at Minute Maid Park, which is sold out.
The Caravan will engage with first responders and visit different community centers, military facilities, hospitals and local schools. There will also be several opportunities for fans to get free autographs from Astros players at select Academy Sports + Outdoors locations. The Commissioner's Trophy, which the Astros received for winning the World Series last year, will make appearances at select spots on the tour as part of the team's season-long trophy tour announced Friday.
Other players scheduled to participate in the Caravan are J.D. Davis, James Hoyt, Tony Kemp, Brady Rodgers, Max Stassi and Tyler White, along with broadcasters Geoff Blum, Steve Sparks, Todd Kalas and Robert Ford.
Astros FanFest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 13 and includes activities for all ages, including autograph sessions with many current and former players, playing catch in the outfield, photo opportunities with the World Series trophy, taking swings in the batting cages, running the bases, bullpen throwing sessions, fan forums with front-office staff and current players, a dedicated Social Media Zone and PlazaFest, which includes a live petting zoo. All activity voucher proceeds benefit the Astros Foundation.
