Razorbacks star crushes homer to dorms

University of Arkansas junior shortstop Jalen Battles came to the plate in the top of the 10th inning Friday with his Razorbacks tied with Louisiana Tech, 7-7, at J.C. Love Field. It was a great time for a go-ahead homer.

Battles delivered that, but it was more than just your run-of-the-mill go-ahead homer -- he demolished a 3-1 fastball from left-hander Cade Gibson for a drive that hit a dorm building well beyond the left-field wall. Bewildered inhabitants must have looked out their windows as they wondered what had just hit the place. Surely it couldn't have been a baseball from the game out there -- that's like, what, 450 feet away or more?

Well, it was a baseball from that game out there. And it kept the No. 1 Razorbacks undefeated as they improved to 11-0 with a 9-7 victory in 10 innings thanks to a Battles blast they'll be talking about at Louisiana Tech for a long time.
