The 30th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, Anthony Volpe was slow out of the gate due to a case of mononucleosis. But he blew away all expectations in his first full pro season in 2021. MLB Pipeline named him the Hitting Prospect of the Year after he batted .294/.423/.604 with 27 homers and 33 steals in 109 games between Single-A and High-A, a hot streak that continued into 2022. Volpe features plus-plus speed and solid power, leaving Yankees fans dreaming of a future 30-30 star at the shortstop position.

Oct. 5: Volpe wraps strong 2022 at Triple-A
Anthony Volpe completed his standout 2022 season just one step from the Majors, wearing the uniform of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. While his home ballpark rests some 125 miles away from Yankee Stadium, the Yankees’ top prospect doesn’t seem to be far off.
Volpe recovered from a slow start with Double-A Somerset, batting .286 with 13 home runs and a .910 OPS over his final 72 Eastern League games to earn a promotion to Triple-A.
In 132 games overall, Volpe batted .249/.342/.460 with 21 homers and 65 RBIs. Volpe played his final 22 games at Triple-A, where he’ll probably open the ’23 campaign for additional seasoning, but the big club figures to be watching closely.

Volpe, the Yankees' top prospect and No. 5 on the Top 100, has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Volpe posted a .251/.348/.472 slashline in 110 games with Double-A Somerset this season, along with 18 homers.
